Norman Bartlett is a highly experienced consultant in IT, Electronics and Defence and brings his huge experience to the TekPlus Consulting Group. In his 30-year career in, or associated with, industrial market consulting, Norman has been personally responsible for authoring over 120 reports. The titles cover such topics as Internet Banking, IT Services, Value Added Resellers (VARs), Computer Maintenance, Computer Lease & Rental, Mission Critical Computers, UNIX, Network Computers, Storage Management, Factory Automation, PCBs, Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), Military Computers, Military Comms., Surveillance & Reconnaissance, Military Security, C3I, Radar, Fire Control Systems, Military Test Equipment, Avionics software, Network Services, Network Cabling, Videoconferencing, Video Servers, Communication Equipment Maintenance, Radio Paging, Multimedia and a number of IT and Services related reports on Eastern, Central and Sourthern European countries.

Norman has undertaken numerous consulting projects over 30 years which has included assignments for leading consultancy firms including Arthur D. Little, Andersen Consulting (now Accenture), BIS, Datapro (now Gartner), Frost & Sullivan and TIE as well as leading corporates, notably AT&T, BP, Digital Equipment (as was), Hewlett Packard, IBM, Mitsubishi, Matsushita, Philips, Storage Technology and Yokogawa Electric. He has been with TekPlus since 2001.

For some years, Norman had his own specialised market research agency called Westbury Marketing, which specialised in the electronic, security and transport business areas and was later acquired by BDMI Ltd, a defence market research agency. During his period with BDMI, Norman, as Director of Research, was personally responsible for the design and direction of many marketing studies. The clients included British Aerospace, Britten-Norman, GEC-Marconi, Schlumberger, Siemens-Nixdorf, Thomson-CSF, and other suppliers from Australia, China, Israel, South Africa and the USA. BDMI published (in association with the Department of Defence Studies at Aberdeen University) 'European Defence Portfolio' a detailed compendium - with quarterly updates - to the defence policies, plans and finances of European governments. In 1999, a French warship builder in its dispute with another European manufacturer, engaged Norman as an expert witness.

Earlier he had been an international marketing executive with the Dynamics Group of The Plessey Company and Plessey Europe & Middle East, where he was based in Brussels for some time, responsible for marketing of products from radar to electronic components. At the outset of his career, Norman served in the Control & Reporting System of Royal Air Force Fighter Command, later in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He left the service with the rank of flight lieutenant. Norman then pursued an academic career for some years in mathematics and associated disciplines.

Norman was educated at Ilford County High School and Birmingham University, graduating in 1959 after his Royal Air Force service. Later he returned to full time education with a postgraduate year at London University for a Diploma in Mathematics.
