Misys Healthcare Systems                        9 Pages

The Misys Corporation is a well know software services provider in the financial vertical. 25 years in this business and its market expansion through partnerships and joint ventures are impressive. But off late it seems to have lost it’s focus from its core competencies and the declining revenues are proof of it. Nevertheless the company is divesting its non-core business areas slowly and refocusing on the customers and expanding its product line accordingly. Misys Healthcare Systems is active mainly in the US. Historically the company has always had a strong position in the finance vertical, however with some of its strategic acquisitions, it is strengthening its position in the healthcare vertical as well. The most eye-catching acquisition is of Patient1 product line from Per Se Technologies. The high market demand for CPR and CPOE solutions (which are core components of Patient1 product line as well) will provide Misys with ample opportunities in this area. Misys also has its own product line of departmental information systems (LIS, RIS, Pharmacy, etc.), which are again potentially high growth markets. Although the return on shareholders value has been declining, TekPlus expects the company to bounce back given its management experience as well as the growth expected in some of its key markets. Misys needs not only to refocus its priorities but also to rapidly execute on them.
